TSM: A.G.S.F. - Alt.Gothic Special Forces

Stands for "Alt.Gothic Special Forces."

Not really as involved as it sounds, however a pretty fine example of what a little education can do in the hands of a large and willing constituency. After alt.gothic found itself on the wrong end of a few list-bomb attacks and any number of strangely motivated individual party-crashers with spoofed email addresses, the techies in the newsgroup (of which there were quite a few, as you might expect) put their heads together and wrote a short set of instructions on the art of reading email headers. This allowed the less technically-inclined readers of the group to quickly figure out where the posting had come from, and then complain en masse to the administrator of the offending server(s)

While I ([[TSM]]) can't back up the claim with exhaustive lists of banned accounts and people who got kicked out of school for wire-fraud, I can personally attest to a sudden, calming quiet that spread across the entire alt.gothic.* tree as any number of chronic nuisances were finally, and permanently silenced.

FTR, the AGSF rallying cry "We Will Kick Your Ass Without Even Smearing Our Eyeliner" was spun forth by [[Xthic]]. On a more dubious note, that same phrase also appeared on t-shirts sold in [[Hot Topic]] retail locations around the country in the late 90s and early 00s, more likely than not thanks to [[eloquence]].

Shame on you Elly. SHAME.

He is also (much to his consternation) commonly mis-credited with the [[A.G.S.F.]] Rallying-cry "We will kick your ass without even smearing our eyeliner," which was actually the work of his cmu.edu compatriot [[Xthlc]].

Also noted for his willingness to contribute occasionally to this absurd fucking time-sink if someone would only bless him with the ability to create a Goddamn page or two.
