==What Is alt.gothic Convergence℠?==
[[Convergence]]℠ is explained on it's own page, but [[The_C*B*L | we]] feel it's worth reiterating the core purpose here. [[alt.gothic]] [[Convergence]]℠ is the annual party put on by the denizens of [[alt.gothic]] for the denizens of [[alt.gothic]] and ALL their friends that squishes together hundreds of [[net.goth]]s from around the globe and their friends into a single city for a weekend of socializing, booze, musical events and sweet debauchery.

==Bid Selection Process==
There are 4 steps to getting a bid chosen to be a [[Convergence]]:
# [[Bids]] are entered.
# [[The C*B*L]] vet the [[bids]] to ensure they are within the bounds of reason<ref>We may well look askance at a bid that looked like [http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/ Glastonbury] for example</ref> and fulfill the requirements.

The timeline for C22 bid proposal and voting goes like this

===Wednesday July 1 2015===
Submission deadline.

By this date, Bidding Committees must have submitted their Bid Proposals and preliminary event budgets for inclusion on the ballot. They will have a web account set up on altgothic.com to host their proposal web sites and site credentials will be sent to bid committees.

See the [[Bids]] page for information on how to create and submit a Convergence proposal.

Note that the person that submits the bid will be the point of contact with [[The C*B*L]]. Any references to a Committee Chair in the process refer to that person.

===Sunday July 5===
Bids go live.

Bidding Committees *must* post their Bid Proposals to the alt.gothic.* news groups and they may open their web sites to the public. Posting to regional mailing lists, web communities, blogs, social media etc. is acceptable but not essential. If you don't have a newsfeed that can access alt.gothic, [http://groups.google.ca/group/alt.gothic/topics?hl=en Google] can help you out. (It would be in the bid's BEST INTERESTS to post everywhere! [https://www.facebook.com/groups/altgothicconvergence Convergence FB group], [https://www.facebook.com/groups/alt.gothic/ altgothic FB group], [http://convergence.livejournal.com/profile LJ], Tumblr, Twitter, anywhere and everywhere you can think of!)

Discussion BEGINS.
Bids are *locked* during the discussion period: the Bidding Committees may no longer make any changes to their bids. The proposal websites are frozen. The denizens of alt.gothic discuss their ideals and reservations regarding the bids. Committees answer questions. Bids may be rejected by consensus if they do not please the people, although they are no longer required to be specifically ratified.

Bid Clarification Period BEGINS

The Bidding Committees may modify their bid websites to incorporate clarifications of the bid that came up during discussion.

Every year [[net.goth | we]] have to decide where to hold the next Convergence. Some poor mad fools take it upon themselves to put together bids to host it in various cities. If more than one group that wants to put it on is [[Ratification | ratified]], then there's a vote. This page covers off what you need to know when that happens.

The discussion period, in which the public will endlessly debate every little detail about every proposal, will begin as specified in the [[Timeline]].

==Voting System==
Upon logging in during the vote period, voters will be able to log in to [http://www.altgothic.com/voter Convergence Voter Database] and place their vote.

This year's voting system will be determined once the number of bids is known. Likely it will be a single transferable vote or similar.

Though singing before she could speak and writing music for much of her life, Lacy Rose began taking shape as an artist while a music student in New Orleans. Lacy currently resides in Austin, Texas, where she continues to shape and perform her art. She released her first album, the EP-length Ghost Music, in October of 2012. The work is a succinct collection of original art songs regaling the listener with tales of tragedy, vengeance, longing, and madness.

The talmage aesthetic was already in place when vocalist John Hawkins and guitarist Bill Neubauer began writing new songs together in 1981 after the demise of Actual Size, their experimental punk band. Influenced by the likes of Kraftwerk, OMD, Soft Cell, Gary Numan, and Joy Division, the two worked with a drum machine and various electronic devices to explore a similar musical terrain. They were soon joined by guitarist and keyboardist Gary Wheelchair, and the three built up a workable body of material before casting about for a bass player. They found one in Seth Bovey, who had been playing in a neo-psychedelic band called Standard Deviation, and talmage d’amour was formed.
