Prefer to take the train? Amtrak it to Los Angeles’ Union Station, then hop the Metro Blue Line for a quick ride down to Long Beach.

Long Beach is a day's drive from San Francisco, five hours from Las Vegas, two hours from San Diego, and thirty minutes to an hour from Los Angeles or Orange County (depending on traffic and what area you're driving from).
