SHORE EXCURSIONSLong Beach skyline

The Queen couldn't have a better city to call home, and we hope you'll make time to see what treasures the LBC has to offer. Long Beach is a wonderfully diverse, freak-friendly city, famous for its subcultures, artists, musicians, and gay and lesbian community coexisting happily with Snoop Dogg, the USC Mafia, and college students who attend California State University Long Beach. The city loves its freaks, so grab some friends, abandon ship, and explore!

GETTING AROUND TOWN

Just steps from the base of the Queen's gangway, you'll find the Passport Bus, which offers FREE service to the Pike and downtown Long Beach. For a couple dollars more, you can ride past the stately mansions of former oil magnates to Belmont Shore and Naples Island.

Long Beach is also home to the Water Taxis -- AquaBus and AquaLink! The AquaBus costs $1.00 to cross Rainbow Harbor, the AquaLink will take you to Alamitos Bay for $3.00, and both are fun ways to get around and see the city's beautiful shoreline.

THINGS TO SEE IN THE LBC

Long Beach is home to the oceanfront Long Beach Art Museum, the Museum of Latin American Art, and the Aquarium of the Pacific. The Long Beach Terrace Theater hosts performing arts events throughout the year, ranging from musicals and ballet to music performances and stand-up comedy.

Downtown Long Beach and The Pike offer a vast selection of restaurants, brewpubs, and shops, and both are a short, FREE Passport bus ride away from the Queen Mary.

Other districts you may find enticing are 4th Street, home to some fantastic specialty, alternative, and vintage shops and the terrific Portfolio Coffeehouse; Broadway, the main thoroughfare of Long Beach’s famous and lively GLBT community; and Belmont Shore, a delightful district of shops, restaurants, and bars with a small-town feel.

GOLF

Long Beach has five public golf courses. Just sayin'...
