Temps: Actually, the high is usually around 80. Everything, and we mean everything, in Florida is air-conditioned. Your time spent out in the daystar without a/c will be minimal.

Transport:Ybor City is entirely walkable. For those staying in the Tampa Hyatt, the Teco Streetcar is 3 blocks from the hotel and runs via Channelside down to Ybor. Cost is $1.50 per ride or $3.00 for a 24-hour pass. The streetcar runs until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. Hyatt Regency Tampa offers both a valet parking garage and self parking lot on site. Valet parking is currently $13 per day and self parking is only $8 for a 24 hour period. Valet parking includes in and out privileges. Additionally, Hyatt Regency Tampa is connected to Ft. Brooke Parking Garage, which is the largest public parking facility in downtown Tampa. Daily parking fees at Ft. Brooke are only $9.50


Costs: Rest assured that we are cheap bastards and will haggle and bargain to get you the best value for your Convergence dollar. Our best estimate at this time is the laminate for admittance to C11:Tampa will run in the neighborhood of $50. This would include everything but the Ghost Cruise, which will run an additional $35, for those who choose to attend. Overall, Tampa is a cheap city and drinks in the clubs rarely run over $5.00. Cover for most clubs likewise runs $5.00 or less. Ybor City has a plethora of cheap dining options, running the gamut from local Cuban restaurants to typical chains.

Hotels: We can announce that, should we be chosen to host C11, we will be hosting Convergence at the Tampa Hyatt Regency . We have negotiated outstanding rates for Convergence guests for May 27th, 28th, and 29th: Single: $ 99 Double: $109 Triple/Quad: $119 The Hyatt also features outstanding vending and social spaces, as well as a large social lounge that we will have the run of for after-hours events. A terraced brick patio with plenty of greenery provides an outdoor haven for socializing and perhaps a bit of group photography. And, really, how can you argue with the aesthetic appeal of a black glass monolith?
There are also few smaller hotels inside the Ybor Historic District. Mostly in the vein of Bed & Breakfasts, these would provide a unique alternative to the official hotels. In the 1800s, Ybor City was a vibrant Cuban community which was known for its cigar industry. You'll find echoes of its heyday in the beautiful Spanish architecture, which is reminiscent of the French Quarter in New Orleans.

Venues: These are the venues that you will likely find yourself at in Tampa and the ones where we would like to host events, should you vote for us. All the venues below are located in Ybor City. Today, Ybor City is an 'Entertainment District' filled with clubs, restaurants, bars, and tattoo parlors. Please note: we have not contracted with any specific venue at this time. If chosen, we will work hard to get you the best venue for a reasonable price.
	The Castle You've heard about it. Now, come see it. Quite probably the best Gothic venue in North America.

	The Masquerade Once the Grande Dame of Tampa Gothic clubs. Now, in its new location, an excellent live venue.

	Czar The new kid on the block, from the same folks that brought you The Castle. An 80's bar with a killer selection of vodka and a swanky ambience.

Miscellany: Tampa is extremely friendly for those under 21. Clubs are 18 and up. Daytime events will be, for the most part, all-ages. Venues are open until at least 3am and liquor stores are frequently open as late as 1am. Alcohol sales begin at 11am. The liquor stores are not state-owned and many grocery stores have full liquor stores attached, though you will only find beer and wine in the groceries themselves. Smoking is prohibited in public buildings, but is allowed in bars and clubs. Cigarette prices are lower than in NYC!
